A few weeks ago the Avenue for the Arts got a visit from the Pure Michigan Team, looking to find out more about how we work to support artists business owners. As new spaces like Woosah, featured in the video short, move to the Avenue we work to promote them to grow awareness of their business, but we also work along artists who are just starting on the path to building their business.
Many of our artist business owners start as vendors at the Market or showing in Avenue events like first Friday or Art.Downtown. later we see many of them engaged with our education series, Break it Down. This month we are proud to be launching a new series of cohort conversation called Break it Down: Doing Business.
The curriculum was designed by Alaina Clarke created in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurism and Innovation at Grand Valley State. Intended to help artist refine their business practice, the series will strengthen the relationships between local artists and inspire a healthy business creativity mix!
