When one of your best friends gets married you wheel out the party favors. This summer some of my best-est besties are getting hitched and we started the celebrations a few weeks ago with a shower and then a B.B.G. (Bachelorette Birthday Get-Together). This post is a bit of an event planning brag, 2 parties in two weekends, 2 weeks before 2 amazing people get married! The couples shower was held in a vacant commercial space downtown and I stole […]
When i started taking a handbuilding class in January one of the goals was to make a complete set of kichenware. I have an obsessive goal of creating an entire meal setting. And this week i got back a trove of bowls that i am pretty stoked about. I’d like to make a slightly bigger option for soup but i’m really happy with how the glaze looks. They are all pinch pots, some porcelain some stoneware. Bowl by bowl i’m […]
Well. The Kendall Clay Club was working on planters… and i love plants…. and i hate most of my house plant containers… so it just seemed natural to skill build and make planters all at the same time. What started as a project to use some of the old t-shirst from my closet turned into a few trips to the Salvation Army to get a few more shirts and a final rug that cost about $30. I got to use my awesome oversized crochet […]
I’ve been on repeat with the work I make for a while now, sitting down to draw and thinking about ideas I feel like I have already had. After years of making work as therapy for this, that or the other thing, it seems like I can’t quite get away from the bad juju. So it is time to try to learn a few new tricks. I have a list about 5 miles long of projects I want to do […]
I don’t do too much resolution setting for New Year but i always select a few goals and concepts to guide my year. This year my goals focus more on art as self improvement. So here is my current goal list and mindset. It will be interesting to compare at the end of the year how much this thinking has shifted. Make work, not to sell, but as a selfish exploration. Invest in learning new techniques, make work in new/old […]
